URGENT: 40+ Abandoned Cats in Desperate Need of Your Help
Imagine buying your dream home in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, only to discover a shocking surprise left behind by the previous owner – a massive colony of over 40 sick, starving, and abandoned cats in dire need of care. That’s exactly what happened to my spouse and I, who both happen to be disabled and living on a very fixed income. Not the ideal situation to add 44 – that’s right – 44 – hungry but adorable mouths.
Despite the challenges, we’re determined to give these precious felines the love and care they deserve. We’ve already made significant progress, thanks to the help of a friend’s rescue organization and our generous donors. In the last few months we’ve:
- Trapped, neutered, and spayed 35 cats
- Dewormed, treated for fleas and mites, and provided antibiotics and lysine for Upper Respiratory infections to all the cats we can catch
- Saved 13 adorable kittens from 6 separate litters, with the youngest two (Vortex and Costco)
- Started treatment to #savesanta with Feline Stomatitis
- Set up shelters and safe refuge for the #25 outside colony cats
Caring for this large colony is a monumental task. We go through 25+ wet cat food cans a day (half grain free, half regular), many pounds of kibble and literal mountains of litter, and we couldn’t do any of it without you.
At Sunshine Pines Rescue, we believe every cat deserves love, comfort, and a full stomach, and we are determined to provide the best care possible for this group of cats that have already been given up on once.
We invite you to join us in making a difference, one paw at a time, to create a brighter future for these beautiful creatures that have become our family, and hopefully now yours.
Help us help them and #sendalittlesunshinetoday by donating to the care of all 44 of the Sunshine Pines Cats with a single or monthly donation, and shopping our Wishlists today.
Will you join us in our mission to give these deserving cats a second chance at life?
Please stay tuned to this site and follow us on your favorite social media platforms to join us along the Sunshine Pines journey where we bring this neglected cat colony back to life, and eventually expand our rescue. We have several goals, including registering as a 501c3 nonprofit, turning the cat’s porch into a giant enclosed catio, and converting a little school bus from a coast to coast camper into a Post storm mobile pet rescue and assist with other feral colonies and TNR projects around the state of Arkansas. We feel strongly that TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) and Spay/Neuther programs and education are crucial to minimizing the unrequested kitten population that has become such a national problem.
Every single donation you make to Sunshine Pines will not only help a cat in need, but help cats all over live better lives.
